On the 29th December we packed up and travelled to Rockhampton 110 Klm drive from Calliope.
We have booked a spot at Riverside Tourist Park its located at the Fitzroy River next to the bridge going into the city.
Nice spot to stay booked in for a week but in the end we stayed there for 7 weeks.
Adrian had him self booked in for a 2 day course to get a MC drivers licence so that he can drive any truck like road trains etc.
This course was on the 30th and 31st December and he passed so happy with that.
New years Eve was a quite night, Adrian was buggered after the whole day being in training.
Could hear all the music from the pubs across the river so they were having a good time there.
That week we visited the Botanical Gardens as well the Zoo in Rocky, were disappointed with the Zoo looked neglected and not many
animals, but the Botanical Garden was lovely we walked around for a while and sat down overlooking the lake.
There were some magnificent trees sooo big had to take some pictures of them.

While being in Rocky we did a 3 day course for the Mining Induction and we did as well a Mining Medical check up and passed all of this.
We did all of this hoping to get a job in the mining but it seems impossible to get in there, you need experience or someone you know working there otherwise its impossible to get in there.
On Australia day we did go to the Heritage museum where there was a special market on, beautiful day but a bit steamy 34degr.
We had a nice time walking around there and took some pictures of soldiers of the early 1900,s
As well there were rides in horse drawn buggies.

On the 12th January we visited

This is a Crocodile about 30 Klm east of Rocky, they started this farm with only a couple of Crocs in the 1980's .
At this moment they have a couple of thousand of them, we were there for about 4 hours they give you a tour and explain a lot about these creatures as well they fed them its amazing if you see this, you don,t see the croc but as soon he show the food they jump out so quikly.
This guide is the son of the owners, he explains it very well and very clear we both were very impressed with him and learned an awfull lot.
At the end of the tour we were allowed to hold a small croc and this one was worth a couple of thousand dollars.

The guide came back with an egg and 1 small croc was about to come out, after about 5 min. and with the help of the guide the crocs little head popped out was so cute and he showed the baby tummy which showed a big slit and in there was the egg yolk which will feed the baby croc for about 10 days and by that time that slit will be closed as well, the guide told as that this baby that small was worth 500 bucks. Not bad business might start a croc farm soon !!!!

Op de 29e December hebben we onze spullen op gepakt en gaan richting Rockhampton wat is 110 Klm rijden dus een kort tripje.
We hebben een plaatsje geboekt in Riverside Tourist Park voor 1 week maar alles met elkaar hebben we daar voor 7 weken gestaan.
Adrie heeft een 2 dagen cursus geboekt voor de 30e en de 31e om zijn MC vrachtauto rijbewijs te halen dan kan hij elke vrachtauto rijden.
Was een geslaagde cursus want hij heeft zijn rijbewijs gehaald en ik heb 2 weken later ook mijn vrachtauto rijbewijs gehaald maar mag alleen in een vrachtauto rijden niet meer dan 15 Ton of een bus zodat ik een job kan krijgen om zoiets te rijden.
Terwijl wij daar waren zijn we in Rockhampton op de 26e January naar een markt geweest in een historish dorpje, was mooi om dat alles te bekijken, je zag het leger van begin 1900 en wat paarden met karretjes enz enz. Het weer was wat warm en benauwd maar beter dat dan regen.
Ook zijn we bij een krokodillen farm geweest was erg interessant en de gids lag het allemaal erg goed en duidelijk uit.
Hij is de zoon van degene die het in de 1980,s begonnen was ze starten uit met een paar krokodillen maar hebben er nu een paar duizend.
De krokodil die Adrie en ik vast houden is waard een paar duizend en een net geboren krokodil is waard 500 dollar niet gek He !!
De gids kwam na afloop met een ei aan zetten waar de baby was bezig om er uit te komen, met de help van de gids kwam de baby na 5 min. in de wereld, hij liet de buik zien en daar was een spleet en in daar was het eigeel en dat voedt de baby voor 10 dagen en bij die tijd is die spleet ook dicht. Meeste mensen weten dat niet dus wij zijn ook weer wat wijzer.
